Red Lodge’s Neighborhood Wine Bar & Café
Wine, coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner & plenty of reasons to stay awhile
Babcock & Miles Wine Bar & Café is a locally owned neighborhood wine bar, restaurant and café at 107 12th Street W in downtown Red Lodge, Montana, immediately next door to the Babcock & Miles Market.
Owned by Red Lodge locals Steve & Kim Haman, the Wine Bar & Café brings the Babcock & Miles philosophy to the table: good food, thoughtfully selected wine, genuine hospitality and delectable things that don’t require a special occasion.
Come in for coffee.
Stay for lunch.
Meet friends for a glass of wine.
Have dinner.
Discover something new.
Or do several of those things in succession.
We certainly won’t object.
A Wine Bar Built Around Discovery, Not Intimidation
Wine is where Babcock & Miles begins.
At the Wine Bar & Café, it’s also where a lot of very good conversations begin.
Our wine list features a rotating selection of Somm-selected wines and bubbles available by the glass, bottle and flight, giving you the opportunity to try something familiar, discover a producer you’ve never encountered or explore a region you’ve always wondered about.
Steve Haman—known around Red Lodge as “Somm Steve”—holds Level One certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers and has spent years learning the producers, places, vintages and stories behind the wines Babcock & Miles selects.
But you don’t need wine credentials to sit at our table.
Tell us what you normally drink.
Tell us what you’re eating.
Tell us what you’d like to spend.
Tell us you have absolutely no idea.
All useful information.
Wine should be interesting. Drinking it shouldn’t be intimidating.
Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner in Downtown Red Lodge
The Wine Bar & Café was designed to be the kind of place you can use throughout the day.
Our menus change with the seasons, available ingredients, and whatever our culinary team has decided needs to happen next, but you can expect thoughtfully prepared food made for both everyday dining and lingering over another glass.
Depending on the time of day and current menu, that can include:
Coffee, espresso & breakfast
Start with espresso, coffee, tea and morning fare for dine-in or takeaway.
Lunch
Settle in for sandwiches, salads and other daytime dishes—or take something with you.
Cheese, charcuterie & shareables
Because having a Market full of very good cheese immediately next door would be a terrible opportunity to waste.
Flatbreads, small plates & dinner
Come hungry enough for dinner or simply hungry enough to justify another glass of wine.
Dessert
Rotating house-made sweets for anyone who correctly believes dinner should occasionally have a second ending.
Menus evolve, so visit our current menu page to see what we’re serving now.
Sunday Brunch in Red Lodge
Sunday deserves its own category.
Babcock & Miles serves a rotating Sunday brunch with breakfast dishes, pastries, coffee, espresso and other morning necessities, followed by wine, bubbles, mimosas and beer when the hour becomes respectable enough for such things.
Come before the day gets underway.
Come after an adventure.
Come because someone else is doing the cooking.
We support all three approaches.

Not Drinking Wine? You’re Still Invited.
Calling ourselves a Wine Bar does not mean everyone at the table needs to order wine.
Alongside our wine and bubbles, you’ll find a rotating selection of beer, mimosas and thoughtfully selected nonalcoholic beverages, along with coffee, espresso and tea.
The point is not what happens to be in your glass.
The point is enjoying what’s in it.
From the Market Next Door to the Table
One of the things that makes Babcock & Miles unusual is that our Wine Bar & Café has an entire specialty food and wine Market immediately next door.
The Babcock & Miles Market, at 105 12th Street W, has served Red Lodge since 2008 and is home to Somm-selected wines, more than 70 rotating cheeses, charcuterie, specialty foods, pantry ingredients, gifts and other delectable discoveries.
The relationship between the two spaces is intentional.
The Market gives us a place to discover.
The Wine Bar gives us a place to pour, prepare, taste and share.
Shop for a bottle next door.
Try something by the glass here.
Discover a cheese on a board and go buy some to take home.
Have lunch, then solve dinner.
Two doors. One Babcock & Miles. A whole lot of delectable.
Wine Tastings, Wine Wednesday & Things Worth Leaving the House For
Wine gets considerably more interesting when someone pours it for you and tells you why it matters.
Babcock & Miles regularly brings wine education to the table through special tastings, visiting wine professionals, Somm-led selections, and events such as Wine Wednesday, which has featured specially priced Somm-curated pours that you can enjoy solo or paired with menu items.
Some tastings explore a particular winery.
Others focus on a region, grape or style.
Occasionally, very serious Champagne is involved.
We recommend becoming a Babcock Insider (see the footer on each page of our website) so you can hear about those things before we open them up to the public and seats disappear.
A Place to Gather
Sometimes you need a table.
Sometimes you need the whole place.
The Babcock & Miles Wine Bar & Café is available for private dining, celebrations, gatherings and special events, from smaller groups to full buyouts.
Our culinary team can help with food, and our wine expertise makes pairing and beverage planning considerably easier.
Petting zoo?
Probably not.
But for food, wine and hospitality, we’re very much your people.
Award-Winning, Still Neighborhood-Y
We’re proud that people beyond Red Lodge have noticed what happens here.
Babcock & Miles Wine Bar & Café has been recognized by Distinctly Montana readers as Best Wine Bar in Montana, with additional finalist recognition for Best New Restaurant, Best Brunch and Best Coffee in Montana.
Awards are lovely.
But what matters most to us is something much simpler:
Being the place where locals know they can meet a friend.
Where visitors feel welcome.
Where somebody remembers the bottle you loved last time.
And where a quick glass of wine occasionally becomes dinner.
That feels like the better measure of a neighborhood wine bar.
Locally Owned. Actually Local.
Babcock & Miles is locally owned by Steve & Kim Haman, who live in Red Lodge and have spent years building Babcock & Miles as both a business and part of the community around it.
Red Lodge is home.
That means our relationship with the community extends beyond what happens inside the Wine Bar & Café or Market.
It means participating.
Volunteering.
Supporting local organizations and events.
Seeing our customers around town.
And occasionally running into one another when none of us expected to be seen.
As we like to say:
You don’t simply open the doors here. You show up here.
That matters to us. And we know it matters to you, too.
